Struggles

This last week hasn’t been easy. The cats are getting along fine now, they play a bit rougher than I’m used to, but that might just be my boys.

Time is passing really quickly. I haven’t been able to get much reading in and that includes listening to audiobooks. There has been a lot on my mind, most of which being the impending NaNoWriMo 2017 that I’m not prepared for. I’m nervous because I have very little in my head for this NaNo. Less than I usually do. I might do something I haven’t done in a LONG time.

Some good news is that I think I’ve finally overcome biting my nails. I still pick at them off and on, but I’m not chewing them like I used to. I’m currently on week 3 and I think what finally helped me here in breaking it is I’m not only tired of the pain if I chew them too far down, but I’m doing this while a friend of mine is trying to eat better and lose a little weight. I’m doing it this time because she inspired me and I’ve told her this. I don’t want to let her down. That’s one of my biggest things. I don’t want to let people down.

It feels good to be writing this, partly because I’m writing it on my laptop, but partly because I’m writing this at a new desk with a candle burning next to my computer, in front of my chalkboard and it smells beautiful. I’m also listening to “Sleeping Beauties” by Stephen King and Owen King.

I’m also looking forward to the next few weeks because after this week I have 2 weeks I took off. I’m looking forward to getting married, yes. But I’m also looking forward to an uncle of mine coming home for the first time in a long time. This isn’t his home anymore, but I call it coming home because he grew up back here. There’s also a good friend of mine who’s going to be coming here for the wedding and that’s one of my biggest things. We’ve talked about meeting and visiting each other for years and this is… It’s happening. He’s an awesome person and I can’t wait to get a bunch of pictures with him and show him around my city and just have a blast.

Catfish has given me one of the best gifts. We took down my desktop and my old desk Sunday night and he finished putting up the new one, but on top of that he fixed it when I’d broken something by following the instructions and had gotten so frustrated I “rage quit”. For those unfamiliar with the term, “rage quit” means to stop something or give it up because you’ve gotten mad or frustrated with it to the point where you can’t stand it anymore. In extremes it’s where someone, usually a gamer, has stopped playing and done something like throw a controller or break a game disc. Don’t tell me this doesn’t happen, because Catfish HAS broken a disc in anger. It was a $5.00 game though, but still. Bottom line is I know it’s happened. People also rage quit books because you frequently hear about people throwing books across the room because they couldn’t believe what happened.

I’m making decent progress in this book, but I’m also listening to this one, listening to another one, and reading something different. I had also pre-ordered a Kindle copy of the new Joe Hill book “Strange Weather”. I’m super excited to read it because it’s 4 stories by him, so the length and layout seems nice because they sound like they’re going to be decent length stories in this book because it’s over 250 pages.

We’ll see how things go here soon. Like I mentioned before there’s still a lot of planning and plotting I need to do for my NaNo novel this year. I do have a title, though I’m not stating what it is here quite yet. It depends on how things go.

Peace everyone.
